DIY Mint Chocolate Lip Gloss

Okay, this isn't my neat DIY idea (oh how I wish).
I am very picky when it comes to lip gloss. I have tried several lip gloss already, and I was uncomfortable with most of them. Some of them are just too warm and sticky on my lips and some tastes chemically!

How neat is this DIY Lip Gloss by Jaclyn of Food + Words! It's all natural and there's nothing in the ingredients I didn't like!

If you would like find out the recipe, just go to her link and learn how to make one. I've pinned it already for my future reference of must try.

Passion Parade Link Soiree

Hello World!
It's that time of week to parade your passion once again! What have you been up to lately? I just finished my pending table project that I've been wanting to work on for a long time.

It all started when a friend gave us an old telescope which I estimate from 60's or 70's. We had the telescope assembled, but the box was a little too big to fit in any of our tiny storage room. And since we've been lacking our living room tables, I thought I could make use this big bulky box and never have to worry about storage space!

I went to Goodwill for a recreational visit and guess what I found? A pair of never been used table legs! So what do you expect I did? I grabbed it and just bought two more identical legs from Lowes.
I used Valspar primer for plastic that happens to work well with wood too! I found this pretty yellowish paint at mis-mixed paint section for $1.25 and painted the legs.

My main plan was to attach the legs directly to the box. It was very tempting but, I din't want to ruin it. I bought the cheapest wood for the base but thick enough to screw the legs on. I also bought top plates...

to easily attach the legs.

I didn't want any exposed wood. Instead of painting it, I used this decorative tape which has the same shade of yellow close to the paint I used.

Voila! I got myself a table!

When in New Mexico

Hello world!
I know it's been few days since my last post. I am still in my post vacation mode since we came home. I had to work the night after we came home and the day after that. Our apartment was a mess and I was overwhelmed with my projects that I ended up procrastinating both cleaning and finishing my pending projects.
Okay but before that, I want to share a glimpse of our trip in New Mexico.
We did not have enough time to explore NM. Hubby just went there for a conference and that's about it. I didn't make any itenerary because we couldn't stay longer than we should anyway. However, we tried to make the most of small amount of time we had.
I am pretty sure there are a lot of things to do in the largest city of New Mexico. We planned to go to White Sand Monument, but unfortunately they were doing a missle test. So we just went to historic old town of Albuquerque. There's nothing much to see but souvenir and art shops.

We only had less than an hour to wonder around the old town. I had to choose between souvenir shopping or taking photos. Since I can't rush art, I chose to shop for souvenirs! Then I saw this door and I just had to take a picture of it. Too bad I didn't bring my camera. This was taken with my Iphone. It wasn't bad right?

We also found The Christmas Shop where it's Christmas all year long!

In souvenir shops, you will find a lot of these..

Who's in for tequila pops with real worm in it? Apparently are originally made in CA.

How many licks does it take to the creepy core?
Did I read it right? Candy with a creepy crawler in the core? I don't mean to gross you out, but it's just very interesting. I actually asked one shop vendor if she have tried one of these. She never did but her husband did. He said it was like eating a toothpick. Will I do it? It is too much for me that I saw it inches away from my foot, but to linger in my mouth? I don't think so. Will you?
It's dead but I wonder, is it cooked?

Since I don't think I am ready yet for scorpion candy, I settled for a more neutral souvenirs. Cute bead bracelets! I bought these from  a souvenir shop called South Western Handicrafts  from a very nice vendor for $1.87 a piece.

We just got home from our trip, just in time to start today's Passion Parade Friday Link Soiree!
Thank you all so much for your continue support of this party by linking your wonderful projects and blog posts. I've always enjoyed your creativity and learned from your tips and tutorials. I am sure I am not the only one.

I fell in love with this autumnal candle tutorial by Karen of Quintonwench. Autumn inspiration doesn't have to come only in shades of red and oranges.

Stacie of Flourish with A Vintage  Flair put together cofee filters in different shades of pink and make very cute D.I.Y wreath!

I just love make-overs just like what Joy of A Vintage Green did to this table she found at garage sale!

Diner 66 at ABQ New Mexico

After that dry dinner dilemma last night, I decided to go somewhere to quench my craving for a little bit of grease.

Stepping in Diner 66 was like stepping back in time looking at the collection of old school trinkets and stuff but do not expect it's gonna be like a big vintage museum. It's a diner after all. I was looking forward more to an old American style dine.
I have to say the menu was a little bit overwhelming. We just didn't know what to get! A lot of things there sounded so delicious! Although, our waitress couldn't share much information on their meat dish because she was a vegetarian. Oops.

Hubby enjoyed his hand battered tender fried chicken.

So did I with my fish and chips.

With that O so good onion rings.

Banana Split. 9 scoops of ice cream!

Sweet things in life are best shared with the one you love...especially when it's big as my head!
While our Banana Split was being prepared, this old guy was looking...no.. staring at it like a 5 year old boy staring wide eyed at the ice cream as big as him. Seriously hilarious!

Man vs Food. I regretfully inform you. Food won.
I heard their milkshakes are great. I was planning on getting one but not after all that sugar load.
Overall, we enjoyed it.

Restaurant Review: HighNoon Resto Albuquerque NM

photo via google maps

We chose this restaurant on our second evening stay in Albequerque New Mexico due to it's good ratings and it's located at what we thought an interesting place of Old Town New Mexico. I would give our server five thumbs up but not  their grilled burgers.
I ordered well done bison burger, but the waiter suggested I should get  medium well if I want my burger to stay juicy. My husband however made his medium.
While waiting, hubby and I amused ourselves observing the building's structure. I have to say, the restaurant was clean.
We got our orders, took a bite, and was dissapointed that both our burgers were dry as a raisin! I don't think it was worth it's cost.
I may be too early to speak for it's reputation or I guess we just had the worst choice in the menu. Eitherway, I don't think we will be coming back. Overall, our experience at HighNoon Restaurant and Saloon was a pricey burger mistake.

Cute top Under $3

Bon jour tout le monde!

Hubby and I are will be leaving for New Mexico for tomorrow for his work conference. I am not looking forward to the road trip because it means I will be away from my computer and good internet connection, but I am excited to be at least away for a little bit.

Today, I just want to share a good deal I got from Goodwill.
It has been my habit to shop at thrift stores since college.
It's where I could practice my creativity i fashion through mix and match and i like the idea of less likely finding someone wearing an identical outfit within the 100 mile radius.
I found this cute rayon blouse with beaded v-neck marked  as half off. It was $4.99 so I only paid $2.49!  Totally worth it!

Passion Parade Link Party and Stool Revamp

There is an awesome antique mall in Phoenix AZ that's called Brass Armadillo. My Aunt-in-law took me there when we visited. I was overwhelmed witth the number of antique booths. Some of them are ridicoulously pricy but I was surprised there are many very good items for a reasonable price like this foot stool.
I thought the Thé de Provence fabric me and my mumsy got  from a fabric store would look great in it.
It was a little tricky. I took off the original cover and used as a cut-out pattern and sewed the sides.
I would love to keep it for myself but, I have two stools already I think three will be too much! So I will be putting this on my Etsy store for others to enjoy :)
