If you notice I made some adjustments from my previous work "Herbes de Provence: Lavande".
I read online that in Romania, a girl offers a sprig of basil to a boy as a form of engagement, while in ancient Greek, basil is a symbol of hatred. Other cultures uses it is a symbol for love, holiness, purity, and sanctity.
It was also believed that Salome hid the head of John the Baptist in a pot of basil to cover the decomposition odor.
wiseGeek says basil oil can repel houseflies.
Interesting.
I just can't wait till I can print it on canvas and hang them in our kitchen! Now I have three more to go.

What a beautiful piece! I love herbs, and really love your idea of putting this on canvas. How will you transfer it to the canvas? Basil is one of my favorite herbs. We have a big post growing on our deck, and I just made a big batch of pesto the other day!!
