Yard Sale Mission

 continuation of 

Story of Helpful Mr. Stuffed Snowman

The journey will stop at a Yard Sale on December 3rd in LifePoint Church 3137 E Everett Street, Catalina  Tucson, AZ 85739 from 7:30 am to 2 pm. A yard sale full of fun and activities for kids too!

Mr. Stuffed Snowman further explains his eagerness to help by becoming available for the yard sale to help support 11 year old Mikayla Huber who is born with a rare medical condition called Cloacal Exstrophy along with Spina bifida, she has undergone over a dozen major surgeries and a couple dozen minor ones. Due to the nature of her condition, her family must travel to Boston Children's Hospital for her care. The family's medical insurance does not cover all expenses, and there are imminent surgeries and urgent medical needs in the near future. In order to help defray the cost of braces for Mikayla's fast-growing legs, her friends have volunteered to organize a Yard/Craft/Food Sale to raise funds to purchase her new braces!

Like helpful Mr. Snowman, you too can help!

• prayers for Mikayla to persevere through some difficult procedures in the future (emotionally, physically, psychologically, spiritually)
• prayers for God's provision and His grace

• by giving gently used items like clothes and accessories, furniture, appliances, electronics, sports equipment, toys, etc. There will be a drop off location available beginning Monday, November 28th at the Huber home in the Eagle Crest community (Catalina), 61009 E Halter Place, Tucson 85739

• If you would like to give your time to help sort and price on Friday, Dec. 2nd, you are welcome, but please let them know (pre-shopping okay for a minimum of two hour volunteering). Also, extra help at the sale of Sat., Dec. 3rd is appreciated too.

• Tell everyone you know to attend the sale so that we can rally around this beloved homeschool family and friends in the Lord!

Story of Helpful Mr. Snowman

Mr. Stuffed Snowman loves to help.

He wanted to help shovel the snow from the driveway.

But his shovel is too small!

 And there's no snow in Tucson :(

He started thinking inside his box

He had an idea!

He saw his friend carrying a sack of candies, told his idea and asked if he wants to come with him.

He would love to! But he can't go far. The candies are too heavy.

 He saw another friendly looking snowman in a goodlooking green sweater. He asked if he wants to go.

This is the only tree Myric and Jon has in the house and he has to guard it. So he can't go either. 

He saw Mr. Shiny Snowman on the counter hugging his broom. Can he go?

Maybe? He went to his box to think about it.

Then he saw Candle Santa, Candle Tree and Candle Snowman and told them his story.

The three of them went to one corner shelf to talk about it. They decided to help Mr. Helpful Snowman.

 Off they went to their journey where they shall discover a place where they would find their wonderful purpose.

My Herbes de Provence: Lavande wall art print has just  arrived!
I had it professionally wrapped on 1 1/2 thick heavy duty stretch bars with hand painted black edges which made it look more modern!

 

Nostalgic attack: This is my first Herbes de Provence design which got the most hits on my blog!

I am grateful and deeply appreciate you all who liked it, commented on it and encouraged me to market it.

I am very happy with the result so I will be having one of this available on my Etsy store that I just opened to the public!

Pink Paris

Bon Jour tout le monde! Its Pink Saturday once again!!

I never thought I could wear this warm long sleeve shirt here in Arizona. The temperature drastically dropped down around 60! I bought this shirt at JCPenny last year after we came back from France. I was into Parisian design so much that I was  too excited to let this shirt go. Why not!? Its only 5 bucks!! I love clearance sales!!

Love this key chain! A euro for one in Paris.

 It is a perfect match made in heaven with my souvenir bag we bought in a market in Paris just near Marché aux Puces de St. Ouen  for 7 euros or you could even get it for a lower price if you are expert in haggling or charm the French vendor with a friendly smile :)

A perfect travel bag when roaming the street markets shopping for gifts and souvenirs.

Eating A Piece of My Heart

Today's is supposed to be a French Day Friday when I share something French. But for today, I am gonna have to change the tittle as Friends Day Friday!

I met a group of nice ladies in Tucson AZ who meets every Friday for a get-together for a bible study. I was asked if I could teach them some cooking lessons of traditional Filipino dishes this Friday. As someone who enjoyed cooking, of course I said yes! But it was a bit challenging because I had to speak and demonstrate what I was doing all at the same time. But It was okay I enjoyed every second of it.

We kept it very casual. The dish I taught required a lot of preparations of cutting and getting down and dirty using their hands for mixing which for me is most effective. It was also a little bit time consuming which gave us more time for conversations to get to know each other more.

Filipino way of cooking is usually time consuming but always brings such delicious outcome. Our dishes usually consists of lots of ingredients which also means requiring a lot of chopping and shredding! This process brings family, friends and neighbors closer together on special occasions, just having that enjoyable chit-chats over an old fashioned way of chopping onions and garlic or by carefully separating Lumpia wrappers (egg roll wraps) for making delicious Lumpiang Shanghai.

The kids loved the egg rolls!!!

There are many ways to express love. One of them is through cooking. There is a joy in cooking as much as there is in eating. There is a certain feeling of happiness whenever I see the sweet smiles of the people I care for while they munch-on the food I have prepared for them. Somehow, it felt like they happily accepted a piece of my heart.

It was an honor to bring them a piece of my culture.

I wanna do it again...

$3 Provence Look

Hello fellow bloggers! I can't believe its already near the end of the week again! I am sure for working moms weekend is a treat! Tomorrow will  be an exciting day for me because I will be teaching how to make Filipino dish at women's fellowship I attended last Friday.

And speaking of last Friday, I went to a thrift store called Golden Goose with my friends. Do you remember my Five Dollar Fun blog? I mentioned I bought a 9-yard valance for only 3 dollars.

Remember I said there are a number of possibilities that I can use it? I did two!

 First, I have been wanting to do something with this boring white shelf.

Turned into this! Thankfully the valance has just the right width as the shelves.

My kitchen could totally use some more color since I am aiming for my Provence feel.

As my husband walked in the house and saw the kitchen, he exclaimed.. "Whoa! I'm in Provence!".

Okay. Guilty here! Halfway on this project, i just realized the curtain's design was upside down. Corrected it later.
