Tale of Two Moms: Part 2

There was nothing I want to change about my mother after I learned to accept her imperfections and appreciated her worth, but It wasn't too late for my wish. The Lord had a better proposal. How about another mother?

We've only seen each other on pictures before we met. As her son's girlfriend, I was terrified to even talk to her on Skype. I've had heard of mean monster-in-law.... I mean mother-in-laws who meticulously observed their daughter-in-law for flaws and imperfections. Right after I heard Kathy's fairy-like high pitched voice, I knew she is different.

I lived with her for a few months when my fiance had to move back to finish his Phd before our wedding. She was a complete opposite of my mother. She is sweet in nature. She is the kind of mom who would come running whenever her child stumble and fall, hug and kiss him all-over until the crying stops. She wears apron and bakes cookies. She kissed me goodnight before bedtime. She would even read me bedtime stories if I let her! She gave me innumerable warm hugs in one day. She is a kind of person who would comfort me with kind words when something goes wrong.

She once told me she never stopped praying for her all three sons. I believe it her prayers brought me to my husband's path. It is funny no matter how much my husband deny that he married someone like his mom, it is uncanny my mother-in-law and I are so much alike in personality. She tells everybody I am her daughter born in another place, and she is my mother with blond hair and different skin. It is a blessing that the Lord had put me in her life as her daughter she never had.

She made-up for everything me and my mother had lost. Having two incredible mothers filled my heart with so much with praise. My cup is overflowing.

The End...

  5. I love the stories of both moms. It made me open my eyes and my grace to fall on my own mom a little bit more. I also have learned not to judge her for her shortcomings but to focus on her strengths. I am more appreciative of her now that I have kids and realize how hard it is to parent.

    1. Thank you for the comment Kim. It is a blessing to know that this post spoke to you to appreciate your mother more. I wish I realized this long time ago. We wouldn't understand their love and sacrifice too well until having kids of our own.
